Adobe announced the "End of Life" for Business Catalyst and Adobe Muse, deleting websites and all data and completely shutting down on March 26, 2021.
It may seem far away, but website migration can be a timely and stressful process, so it’s important to start thinking about a solution NOW before it’s too late. You definitely do not want to wait until the last minute and lose everything you’ve built up and collected over the years!
What To Do Now?
Bottomline, you need to find an alternative, and Evolve Creative is here to help your business make the transition as smooth as possible.
Business Catalyst to WordPress
Wordpress is one of the most popular content management systems (CMS) in the world AND it’s an open-source platform (meaning it’s not going anywhere) so you can rest assured you won’t have to go through this migration process again. The platform will continue to grow and expand, just like your business.
There is no simple way of migrating a site from Business Catalyst to WordPress. Everything will need to be transferred manually. Another reason why it is important to start thinking about migrating your site as soon as possible—and using a professional!
We can replicate your current site, as close as possible, or give you a fresh new look. We highly recommend—since you’re making a big change already—to let us redesign and give you a site refresh (especially if your site is over 3 years old, it’s the perfect opportunity!).
Online Stores Using Business Catalyst
There are a few solutions for online stores that we can suggest, like WooCommerce, Shopify or BigCommerce. If you have a lot of products, it can become very time-consuming to transfer everything over, so we recommend getting started migrating your store before 2020.
Our preferred shopping cart platform is BigCommerce.
Business Catalyst currently does not allow you to export blog posts. However, you can use an RSS Feed to migrate them to WordPress. In order to achieve that you will need to create an RSS channel on Business Catalyst, compile, save and import those files into WordPress, then assign categories to them.
If you are a heavy blogger, we guarantee you will enjoy the WordPress platform. It’s very intuitive, easy to use, and the functionality, by far, surpasses Business Catalyst.
Rank Higher on Google
Unlike Business Catalyst, there are WordPress plugins, like Yoast SEO, and other features we can utilize in WordPress that can vastly help your google search rankings.
WordPress doesn’t include built-in email marketing like Business Catalyst, BUT there are some really great plugins, like MailChimp, that can easily be integrated with your WordPress site. You do have the ability to export your current mailing lists from Business Catalyst, then we can certainly help finish the process by getting your contacts safely transferred.
If your site has custom-made Business Catalyst Apps, there currently is no way to transfer them over to WordPress. You will need to rebuild them. Our talented and experienced developers here at Evolve Creative will take care of that – one less thing for you to worry about!
Time to Make a Decision
As we said before, website migration can be timely and extra stressful. It’s unfortunate that Adobe had to shut down Business Catalyst, but Evolve Creative is here to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Worry less about the migration and let us (the professionals and WordPress experts) create a fresh new website that will generate more leads and revenue for your business.
If you have a website under 10 pages then one of our Website Packages would be an affordable and fast option.
